Discover Braille

Braille is a reading and writing system that uses touch instead of sight. It has opened the door to literacy, independence, and opportunity for millions of people and it is still used today.

BrailleBug helps students, educators, and curious learners explore how braille works and why it matters. Explore our site and discover how braille connects to history, learning, and future possibilities. This site is designed for everyone, whether you are encountering braille for the first time or building on what you already know.

BrailleBug will come to life at The Dot Experience, APH’s new attraction, that is driven by the mission to change perspectives about blindness and inspire action toward a world that welcomes everyone. In The Dot Experience, visitors will enounter BrailleBug in a fun seek-and-find activity—unlocking a key to deeper learning and discovery.
